Unlike popular treks, Chuharnag remains untouched and peaceful, perfect for trekkers seeking solitude and raw beauty.

Journey to Margan Top

The adventure begins with a drive from Srinagar through South Kashmir. Travelers pass through Anantnag and Kokernag before reaching Margan Top, a high-altitude mountain pass at around 14,000 feet. The Margan Top Trek reveals sweeping views of the Pir Panjal range and lush valleys below. This pass serves as the gateway to the Chuharnag lakes.

Trek to Chuharnag Lakes

From Margan Top, trekkers hike through alpine meadows and rocky ridges to reach the lakes. The trail is short but moderately challenging. Each lake appears in a linear formation, with turquoise waters reflecting the surrounding peaks. The area remains quiet and untouched, making it ideal for photography, meditation, and nature immersion.

Camping Experience

Trekkers usually camp at Margan Top or near the lakes, depending on weather conditions. Nights at high altitude offer stargazing opportunities and peaceful bonfire moments. The experience connects visitors deeply with nature and the silence of the mountains.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal season for the Chuharnag Lake Trek is between July and September. During this period, the trails remain accessible and the weather stays pleasant. Trekkers should carry warm clothing, sturdy footwear, and basic camping gear. A local guide can help navigate the terrain and ensure safety.
