Do I need to carry any trekking equipment?
Kashmir Mountain Adventures will carry sleeping bags, liners, mats, tents, first aid kit,s and other equipment. You need to carry your personal gear.
What is the source of drinking water? is it safe to drink?
Water source is natural streams, rivers, and water springs in the mountains and it is safe to drink.
Do I require a trekking pole?
A trekking pole (hiking stick) helps share the load of the backpack and gives you propulsion. Carry a hiking stick if you have one, otherwise, you can pick up a sturdy fallen branch on the trail and use it for support.
Are trekking shoes mandatory? can I use floaters to trek?
Floaters are not recommended for treks- you need a shoe with a good grip and high ankle support. Have a pair of comfortable shoes with a good grip. Trekking shoes will make the trek comfortable but are not mandatory. If you are buying a pair of trekking shoes, make sure you wear and walk around in them before you come on the trek!
What will the daytime and night temperatures be?
On the slopes, daytime temperature will be around 15-18 C and night times can fall as low as -2° to -4°C.
How many people will share a tent?
Tents will be shared by 2 to 3 people. In some locations, we use arctic tents that accommodate 8-10 people.
Our accommodation for men and women separate?
Yes, men and women will not be sharing tents, unless in arctic tents.
Can we expect rain during the trek?
Sudden showers are expected, always carry a light raincoat or waterproof windproof poncho.
What kind of food do you provide?
Kashmir Mountain Adventures uses a well-planned menu suitable for high-altitude treks. Breakfast varies from bread and butter, Jam, Peanut butter, sandwiches, and cornflakes. Lunch mainly comprises of potato chip, Rice and vegetable. Dinner is complete with vegetables, dal, rice, and dessert. A dry ration of biscuits will be provided as well. You may carry nuts and dry fruits if necessary.
Do I need to carry any documents with me?
Carry an original ID card, passport, and a photograph.
Is there a doctor accompanying us on the trek?
There are no doctors on the trek but your trek leaders are trained first aiders. A full-fledged first aid kit will always be with the team.
Do you provide toilet tents? is it necessary to dig catholes?
There is no civilization or buildings on the treks. No concrete toilets are available. We have toilet tents. Being environment-friendly and hygienic is important. All tissues need to be buried. Sanitary napkins need to be wrapped in newspaper and brought back in a ziplock pouch. No disposing of them in the mountains.
Are there any provisions for taking bath?
There is no provision for a bath at the base camps or on the trek.
Do we get a mobile signal on the trek?
you won’t get any signal.
Payment
Payment for the trek can be done online through credit/debit card or net banking.
Emergency during trek
A medical emergency or any other emergency may arise in a trek. If you are sent down from the trek for any reason, Kashmir Mountain Adventures will arrange for your return to the base camp or the nearest head of the road. You will be accompanied by staff.
Advisory Note:
For all your travel plans include a buffer day to accommodate bad weather on the trek/political instability. This depends completely on the circumstances of the trek.
- It is mandatory for trekkers to carry a copy of their photo id for entry at forest check posts on the trek.
- In case you have an extra bag that you do not require for the trek, you can leave it at the Srinagar and collect it after the trek.
