Tulian Lake trek offers trekkers a unique view due to its distinct shape. Situated at an altitude of 3,353 meters (11,000 ft) above sea level, it is surrounded on three sides by mountains that rise 300 meters (980 ft) above it, which are usually covered with snow. The trek is very steep and difficult, especially in the last stretch. While this final part is the most challenging to climb, once you reach the top, you forget all your struggles. The trek begins in Pahalgam.

Moreover, Tulian Lake is the best site for short trek expeditions for nature lovers.

The lake boasts photogenic scenery in Jammu and Kashmir, characterized by its sky-blue color, which contrasts beautifully with the snowy mountains in the background. Indeed, this picturesque freshwater lake lies in a meadow packed with pine trees, creating a dreamlike setting for any trekker who has covered miles of tough terrain to reach the peak. The Tulian Lake Trek is, without a doubt, one of the best choices for short trekking expeditions.

Tulian Lake Remains Frozen in Winter

Furthermore, Tulian Lake remains frozen for several months during winter. However, it stays welcoming for the rest of the year, even though pieces of ice may float on its surface during those colder months. This phenomenon showcases the lake’s stunning beauty. Consequently, the trek spans 16 km through mountainous routes and provides an extremely adventurous experience for trekkers.

Lidder River

In addition, the Lidder River is considered one of the best picnic spots and an alluring water body that captivates everyone’s attention. Originating from the Kolahoi Glacier, this river holds significant importance for various reasons. Notably, it is a vital tributary of the Indus River, serving as a source of water for irrigation in the Anantnag region. It also acts as a hub for adventure sports such as river rafting, angling, and fishing. Truly, the river presents a gorgeous face of Pahalgam with its bluish waters, making it the most refreshing site to begin the trek.

Baisaran (5 km from Pahalgam)

Moreover, the beauty of Baisaran resembles some of the most stunning places on Earth, earning it the nickname “Mini Switzerland.” This meadow offers a simple yet serene view of lush green pine trees alongside distant snowy mountains. Consequently, this major tourist destination in Pahalgam is in high demand among trekkers seeking a camping site.

Kanimarg (1-hour walk from Baisaran)

Additionally, Kanimarg is a meadow filled with tall pine trees. This area is inhabited by the Gujjars, who are well-known for providing horse riding services. Kanimarg serves as the first stop on the tour and is also ideal for camping. Spending time around a bonfire with friends is highly recommended in this beautiful atmosphere. As we move through the meadow, the forest becomes denser and darker, providing a perfect shelter for trekkers. Thus, Kanimarg is as stunning as any other natural park in Kashmir.

Tulian Lake

Ultimately, Tulian Lake features crystal-clear waters surrounded by hills rising above 300 meters, offering a dreamlike scenery for trekkers. This lake provides an unforgettable experience for tired tourists. While the journey to the lake can be quite challenging, the peaceful environment rejuvenates trekkers and offers a positive boost.
